Little Corn Fishing Charters

We run tours from "Grendel," our open 26-foot center console super panga powered by a new 75 hp Suzuki 4-stroke outboard.  Our fishing boat is equipped with GPS, VHS, down rigger and high-speed planer. Generally, we troll with rigged ballyhoo.

Near the island coast (about 5 miles out and closer) we chase after kingfish, sailfish, amberjacks, barracuda, African pompano, snapper and the occasional mackerel, just to name a few. The mahi mahi and yellow tail average around 30 pounds. The saifish is more common a catch than one would suspect.

Catches are commonly prepared and served at the Casa Iguana restaurant by a professional chef.  Enjoy the smiles on the faces of fellow diners, whom delight in hearing your fish stories while your catch is served as the evening's gourmet meal.

A number of our guests come to Little Corn Island specifically for fly fishing. One can fly fish all day right in front of Casa Iguana and the at north end the island. Generally fly fishing along Nicaragua's Caribbean islands can vary more from one day to another than from month to month. Historically, tarpon hit from about December through mid-May. But the fish are there year-round, and it's mostly a matter of weather, which can change overnight.

Though we are equipped for fishing charters, bring your own flies, rod and reel personally suited to you for fly fishing. Anglers seem to have luck with a 7 weight rod using crazy charlies and clousers.

Inshore we hunt for the "Grand Slam" of inshore fishing: tarpon, bonefish and permit. 3-5 pound bonefish are the most common catch, yet we also hook bar jacks and snook.  These fish are considered the reigning royalty of inshore fishing and the catch of a lifetime to any angler.

There are few fly fishing flats on Big Corn or Little Corn Island, thus it might be wise to bring a spinner as well for deeper fishing.

Sport fishing:  $50 per person, minimum of two anglers.  Charters are 2-3 hours. All gear is included.  Bring sun protection and a refreshment plus snack. 

Fly fishing guide:  $50 per person.  Guiding lasts 2-3 hours.  LCFC does not provide fly gear of any sort, as most guests bring their own gear personally suited to them. Bring sun protection. Catch and release.
